Why does my UE Megaboom will not charge (light still flashing)?

I’m currently facing an issue with my UE Megaboom speaker where it simply won’t charge, and the light keeps flashing. It’s been quite frustrating because I’ve tried different charging cables and outlets, but nothing seems to work. The speaker itself appears to be fine and was working perfectly until a few days ago when this problem started. I’ve noticed that when I plug it in, the LED light begins to flash, but the battery level doesn’t increase at all. I can’t figure out if there’s something wrong with the battery, the charging port, or some internal issue. I rely on my UE Megaboom for a lot of my audio needs, and it’s becoming a significant inconvenience that I can’t get it to charge properly. Has anyone else experienced this issue, and what could be causing the light to flash without it actually charging?

From my experience, the flashing light and non-charging issues sometimes come from debris or dirt obstructing the charging port. Here’s what I did to solve it: 1. Use a small, soft brush or a can of compressed air to clean out the charging port. Be gentle to avoid damaging the connectors. 2. Inspect the charging cable and the port for any visible damage or wear and tear. After cleaning the port and ensuring the cable was good, my speaker started charging normally again. It’s worth a shot!

I had a similar issue with my UE Megaboom, and what worked for me was performing a hard reset. Here’s how you can do it: 1. Hold down the Volume Down button and the Power button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. 2. The speaker should make a sound indicating it’s resetting, and then it’ll power off. 3. Turn it back on and then try charging it again. This reset often resolves minor software glitches that could prevent charging. Give it a try and see if it helps.

I had another thought, which came from my troubleshooting experience: sometimes the USB charging cables themselves can be faulty, even if they look fine. This is how I approached the problem: 1. Try charging your UE Megaboom with a different USB cable, preferably one that you know works with other devices. 2. Connect the speaker to a different power adapter or even to the USB port of a computer. Swapping out the cables and adapters finally got my Megaboom to start charging. It turned out my initial cable had an internal break that wasn’t visible from the outside.

When I encountered a similar issue, the root cause was the charging port’s integrity which had become loose from frequent plugging and unplugging: 1. I contacted the Ultimate Ears support team and explained my problem. 2. They suggested bringing it to a certified repair center to inspect and, if necessary, replace the charging port. I followed their advice and had the port tightened and slightly adjusted. After that, it charged perfectly without any flashing light. If you’ve ruled out other solutions, this might be worth considering.

In my case, the charging issue was due to a nearly drained battery that needed a constant power supply for a while before it started charging normally: 1. Plug your UE Megaboom into a charger. 2. Leave it plugged in for a few hours without trying to turn it on or use it. Sometimes, deeply discharged batteries need more time to wake up and start charging properly. This worked after I left it plugged in overnight.

I discovered that my UE Megaboom had a firmware issue that caused the charging problem. To fix this, I updated the firmware through the Ultimate Ears app: 1. Download and install the UE app on your smartphone if you haven’t already. 2. Open the app and connect your UE Megaboom via Bluetooth. 3. Follow the prompts to check for any firmware updates and install them if available. Updating the firmware fixed the flashing light and charging issue for me. Make sure your speaker is sufficiently charged or connected to power before starting the update.
